Liberation Theology started in the late 20th century in Latin America with the idea that the Churches ministry should include involvement in the political struggle of the poor. Liberation Theology believes that God speaks through the poor and that the poor should overthrow the top of society, making it a political movement rather than a spiritual one. Liberation Theology turns away from the fact that Jesus died so that we might have eternal salvation.
