With paint-peeling chemistry, handcuffs and a black bobbed wig, Melanie Griffith and Jeff Daniels hit the road in Jonathan Demme's freewheeling 1986 film that flirts with several genres, from screwball comedy to crime adventure to sex romp. Bad girl Griffith kidnaps yuppie-yearning-for-more Daniels in order to have a presentable "husband" at her high school reunion. The only problem: her real husband, fresh out of jail and jonesing for some jealousy-inspired violence. Ray Liotta made his first big screen splash as the ex-con hubby, and his explosive scenery-chewing offers a delightful peek at what's to come. Also be sure to keep your eyes peeled for cameos from Demme's director brethren John Waters and John Sayles.
